Paleo, Primal, Pagen! What’s the deal?

Why are all my friends on this crazy diet fad right now?

 

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably seen one of these terms pop up on your Social Media sites or the news. Paleo is really taking over the health world and even major Food companies like General Mills are buying into it. Athletes are adapting Paleo lifestyles to train for competition and hollywood stars are using it to maintain their fabulous images.

 

What’s the big deal? Why is this all the rage now? How can it impact my lifestyle?

 

Here’s what you need to know about Paleo and Why everyone could benefit from adapting some, if not all, the paleo ideas.

 

What is Paleo

Paleo is all about paying attention to what is in your food. The goal is to keep it fresh and natural. Cut out processed foods, sugar, dairy, legumes and grains. Food isn’t made like it was thousands of years ago. Mass produced food items are over processed and contain so many dangerous ingredients like high fructose corn syrup. When you go paleo, you are focusing on cutting out the additives and trying to get in Real Food! Paleo can heal your body, help you lose weight and give you the energy you need to succeed.

 

What is the difference between Paleo, Primal, etc.

Paleo- No grains, No Legumes, No Dairy, No Sugar or Processed Foods

Primal- The same rules as Paleo except, you can have some Grass- fed Dairy or Raw milk

PagenPaleo Vegans. This is a fairly new term and is gaining popularity among vegans. The idea is to go Vegan but adapt the paleo ideas of building your plate around vegetables and cutting out the highly processed foods.

Gluten- Free- Paleo is a Gluten- Free Diet but Gluten- Free is NOT Paleo. The Gluten- Free foods are full of additives to make up for the texture and flavor. Gluten- Free diets cut out all the grains that contain gluten.

 

Why Should I go Paleo?

Paleo cleans up your diet and makes you more aware of what you are putting in your body. What I’ve learned by going Paleo almost 5 years ago is that foods can heal or they can harm.

By going paleo, or some form of paleo, you are detoxing all of the harmful foods you’ve been putting in. The diet will help you heal your gut and decrease inflammation in your body. When you go paleo, you are being more mindful of how you build your plate for each meal. You’ve got to eat lots of plants and animals to get all the vitamins and nutrients your body craves.

People who have gone Paleo have seen amazing results like curing diabetes, ridding their body of aches and pains, and even beating cancer.

 

Being strict Paleo may not be your style but taking steps to discover how to heal your body with food is something everyone could benefit from. Whether you are looking to lose weight, gain health or reach your goals in the gym, Paleo is the way to go.

 

How Paleo Changed My Life

I’ve been Paleo for almost 5 years and I have seen the incredible benefits of cutting out the junk food. I went off Anxiety medicine, cured my IBS, I have clearer skin and am no longer battling depression.

My husband lost over 60 pounds in 3 months without stepping foot in a gym. He no longer suffers from social anxiety and he no longer has bladder issues.

My kids eat a  paleo 80/20 diet with us. They rarely get sick and they are definitely FULL of energy. They sleep 11- 12 hours a night and they aren’t picky eaters.

Paleo has changed our lives drastically and I know it can improve your life too!
